Cactus Jacket
I studied gardening and the relationship between plants and humans in this project. I stumbled upon a New York cactus store and started doing research. The founders began the idea of running the studio because a grandfather asked them to take care of the plants for him after he passed away. These plants may be older than us, growing in the mud and sand where resources are scarce; they may be more than just cultivated by us; they may be a presence that can hold our memories and companionship. I have designed a series of functional garments based on this horticultural theme.
